From the age of 16, young and hopeful motorsport drivers are faced with a very competitive world. They must understand how a racing car works to enhance its performance and learn to manage the pressure of a race. In Formula Renault, they quickly learn the basics of their profession at the wheel of single-seaters powered by 2.0-L 16-valve engines delivering some 210 hp with a 7-speed sequential gearbox and steering wheel controls.
The old saying that it takes one season to learn and another season to win sounds a bit out-of-date now. Founded 45 years ago, Formula Renault has always kept up to speed, ready to meet the changing needs of budding drivers from kart racing or other introductory disciplines. Since the average age of beginning a career in Formula One has fallen sharply in recent years, the length of the training was reduced accordingly. A genuine single-seater driving school, Formula Renault very quickly reveals or confirms the talent of young drivers.
Renault CLIO Cup
Always fond of door-to-door racing, many of you enjoy our CLIO Cup models. Since the launch of the legendary R8 Gordini Cup in 1966 and for your total enjoyment, Renault Sport has secured a continuous presence on race tracks in Europe and worldwide. And we don't intend to stop there! In 2017, we will build on our success by organising 8 CLIO Cup national series: France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Central Europe and China.
With thousands of cars sold since 1991, our four generations of CLIO Cup, recognized for their performance, reliability and accessibility, have been a great success. CLIO Cup now inherits the strengths of CLIO R.S 200 EDC with a 1.6 L direct injection turbo engine that delivers 220 hp with constant torque of 270 Nm, combined with a sequential gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles. Enough to further boost its performance!
Renault CLIO R3T Trophy
In 2017, teams can choose to take part in a national trophy in four European zones: France, ALPS, Italy and Iberia. In addition to the technical support provided to all customers and the sporting equality of the rally, the CLIO R3T Trophy gives drivers solid experience.
On the mechanical side, CLIO R3T reveals its advantages with exclusive front and rear axles. Its new adjustable shock absorbers and multiple adjustments give all drivers the opportunity to find the balance that will let them be competitive on all types of terrain. Equipped with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and paddles on the steering wheel to follow soon, its CLIO R.S. 200 EDC 1.6-L engine block has received special treatment. As a result, it delivers unrivalled performance with a power rating of 242 hp and torque of 480 Nm.
