Greenhouse gases (C02) released by a combustion engine
are linked to its fuel consumption.
The more efficient an engine is, the more it respects the planet, if only by making
the most efficient use of natural resources.
Renault's environmental policy is based on an understanding
of the ecological challenges that our planet faces. This policy has three commitments:
1. To be one of the worlds top three carmakers for
low emissions of CO2
2. To offer a range of models powered by biofuels
such as bioethanol and biodiesel
3. To develop a wide range of technologies
Renault underlines its commitments to protecting the
environment and so offers a range of vehicles that are both economical and ecologically
sound
Ecologically sound through a commitment to reducing
the environmental impact for the entire lifespan of the car. From the outset, each
new project incorporates production processes, choice of materials, pollutant and
CO2 emissions, fuel consumption and recycling.
Economical, in terms of fuel consumption. Renault
emphasizes that the solution to many great ecological challenges lie in technological
advancements that can be applied to the majority of vehicles whilst maintaining
attractive pricing.
Recycling Renault strives to manufacture vehicles that are environmentally safer
than ever before. One of Renault’s strengths is its capacity to integrate the environment
into every stage of a vehicle project right from the design phase until the end
of its life cycle. The eco-design of current Renault vehicles enables 95% of their
weight to have a second life. It also means that an increasing number of components
are made of recycled plastics and renewable materials.
RENAULT CONFIRMS ITS LEADERSHIP IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE LIFE CYCLE
Aware of the ecological challenges and its responsibilities
as a carmaker, Renault has an ambitious global environmental policy, taking into
account the life cycle of the vehicle, from manufacture to the end life cycle. In
February 2008, Renault took a new step by creating “Renault Environment”. 100% owned
by Renault, this subsidiary develops projects and partnerships, in France and on
the international level, to optimize the final use of products.
